Biofuel Evolution Ltd
What is the specific problem you are addressing?
We are addressing the global issue of food waste and climate change. 1.3 billion tonnes of food produced globally for human consumption is wasted every year. Furthermore, greenhouse gases from fossil fuels & food waste is contributing significantly towards climate change.
What is your offering and how does it transform/disrupt the energy sector?
To produce bio-ethanol, a cleaner and greener liquid fuel, from food waste ( a substrate that is renewable, abundant and of low-value. In contrast, other companies use conventional feedstocks like corn; a food crop that needs a substantial amount of arable land, has a negative impact on the security of food supply and is costly compared to fossil fuel production. We want to help facilitate the drastic need to change from food crop to waste stream biofuel production and create a circular bio-economy in the process, which will be crucial for the industry to survive. Currently, there are no commercial-scale production facilities of bioethanol using mixed food waste as a substrate and our aim is to develop one which will help to transform the dynamics of the biofuels industry.
What is the underlying technology that you are using?
We are using existing Anaerobic Digestion (AD) technology, which entails fermentation and distillation.
What are the partnerships that you are seeking?
We are seeking strategic partnerships with global Energy & Pharmaceutical companies that have underlying engineering expertise as well as academic partners/researchers. Furthermore, any organisation within the food hospitality sector. We are also seeking seed investment from knowledgeable angel investors, government grants or loans and private equity companies that have expertise in the renewable energy industry.
